The Indian School of Business, popularly known as ISB, is a favorite among the Indian MBA aspirants. The school has consistently ranked among the top list of b-schools around the globe. Because of its high reputation, the admission process to its programs is highly competitive. The first step to getting admissions to ISB is clearing the GMAT exam. Hence, if you are among those who wish to pursue an MBA from ISB, you must have an idea of the average GMAT score for ISB admissions.

Through the course of this article, we’ll explain the ISB GMAT score trends over the last few years, to help you prepare accordingly.

Average GMAT Scores for ISB Admissions

The programs offered by ISB are renowned, as most of the programs are designed in a way to provide the students a holistic and comprehensive business knowledge. The curriculum of these programs is research-oriented and is drafted in a way to give you practical experience as well. Hence, only a high score in GMAT, among other factors could get you admission to ISB. The GMAT score also indicates your academic preparedness to pursue a management course.

ISB has campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali. Though ISB hasn’t specified any cut-off officially, taking a look at the GMAT averages of past years will help you understand the trend. Given below is a table of ISB average GMAT scores for the past 5 years.

Year Accepted Score range Average GMAT score
2016 600-700 700
2017 600-770 704
2018 600-780 707
2019 600-780 709
2020 600-770 710

The admission process to ISB is not dependent on your GMAT score only. The score is only one among the several factors considered for admissions. In short, neither a great score can guarantee you admission, nor a low score will defer your admission. ISBs look at your profile holistically. This means if you have an above-average score in GMAT, and you are good in other factors such as academic grades, work experience, etc, there are chances that you get selected for admission. Having said that, a  good GMAT score can create a good impression among the admission committees.

To score well in the exam, you need to practice and prepare well. The best way to prepare is by creating a study schedule and sticking to it. You can also use the preparation time to practice the previous year GMAT papers and use the GMAT grid to find out the possible score you’ll achieve in GMAT. Remember, the greater the preparation, the better the chances are of getting a great score.

We hope now you have an idea of what scores are required for getting admissions in ISB. GMAT scores are an important part of ISB admissions, but not the only one. You need to have an excellent profile and track record to be on the top list of applicants. Hence, refer to the above information, note down the other factors, and start your preparations. Good luck!
